Big Maths

In school we now use the BIG MATHS programme to support our teaching of maths across school . The CLIC ( counting , learn its, its nothing new and calculations )structure is covered in each lesson so the  children become  very familiar with the pace and expectations . This is reinforced  with displays showing the objectives and key information the children need to know ( eg times tables, number bonds, doubles ) and each week they can review their progress through short tests called CLIC or Beat it challenges .the planning uses the steps approach outlined in BIG maths and is fully linked to the National Curriculum 2014.Children are engaged well during the sessions and they thoroughly enjoy the songs, computer games , chants , activities , games and challenges which each and every lesson presents In Foundation stage we utilise Little Big maths and from October 2015 this will be a daily feature of their day meaning  key facts and concepts are introduced and revisited building a strong knowledge in a fun and lively manner.
