Year 5 Trip to Beamish Open Air Museum

Beamish is a world famous open air museum. It tells the story of life in North East England in Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian times.

Most of the houses, shops and other buildings you see at Beamish, have been rebuilt and furnished as they once were. Home Farm, Pockerley Old Hall and the drift mine, were already there.

You won't find objects and artifacts in glass cases at Beamish, you'll see them just as they are meant to be. You will meet staff who are very knowledgeable and proud of the museum and happy to share their knowledge with everyone who visits Beamish.

There are many different ways of getting around the museum including vintage trams and buses, this gives us a first hand of expierence of what it was like to travel on these types of transport many years ago.

Beamish is a living working museum, where there are always new things to see and experience. Beamish is a fantastic day out for the whole family!

On their return from Beamish Year 5 made a powerpoint presentation of their day, here are the pictures from their presentation
