Courageous Advocacy - We can make a difference !!!
'Speak up for people who cannot speak for themselves. Protect the right of all who are helpless'
At the Bishop Harvey Goodwin School we are ensuring that we are speaking out for those who cannot. In our school we say 'If you have a voice, you have a choice'. We understand that in the world today not everyone has a choice like we have and so we seek to make changes in the future. We do this in lots of ways ;
* Our mini police - look under Children tab on our website and the drop down box whole school
*In lessons and Collective worship we have opportunities to discuss world issues, challenge injustice and take part in ways to bring about change. Examples include Christian Aid Harvest Work with Y3 where we donated seeds rather than food so families could be sustainable for the future and farm their own crops and finding out where our individual £1 support those in war torn UKraine.
*We were able to have real insight into disability discrimation when Nat talked to us in wheelchair basket ball in Autumn Term 2022 and this has helped us to see injustice in the future if it occurs and know how to tackle it appropraitely
*We also look at local issues. We have changed the envirnoment for good by choosing to add bird boxes and the way we nuture our unique acient woodland Plantium Jubilee Tree as part the the Queen's canopy
*We made a difference in many charity events such as Comic Relief, Reindeer Run and Children in Need and always seek to be clear what those asking for donations want to achieve so we can support them fully
*In 2022-23 we are taking part in the Global Neighbours Scheme to future develop our Courageous Advocacy
