Here at The Bishop Harvey Goodwin School, we offer an inclusive education for all pupils. We have clear policies and practices for early identification of needs and pride ourselves on our high-quality response to these.

We are committed to ensuring that the necessary provision is made for all pupils. The SEND Code of Practice (2014), states that all children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to make progress so that they:

• Make a successful transition into adulthood, whether into employment, further or higher education or training

At The Bishop Harvey Goodwin School, we believe that all pupils with a SEND need must have their needs recognised and assessed so that appropriate and timely interventions can be put into place. We strive to deliver a curriculum that provides suitable learning challenges to meet the diverse learning needs of all our pupils, and we will do everything we can to remove any barriers.

Our goal is to meet each pupil’s needs through Quality First Teaching approaches, adaptive curriculum and personalised support and interventions.

We pride ourselves on our strong connections with parents and, as a collaborative, break down any barriers that may be preventing children from making the progress that they are capable of. As a school, we recognise the importance of not only supporting pupils' academic progress but also developing their behavioural, emotional and social skills to enable them to flourish as one of God’s children. We recognise and value the need for a full range of both educational and pastoral support and our dedicated team offer: Counselling services, ELSA, Thrive, Drawing and Talking as well as a range of interventions.
