Values Days
Each new half-term begins with a morning worship in our new VALUE led by The Headteacher and this launches the new theme and focus for the half-term. We then use the fresh start on the term to learn more about that value through a Bible story, quotes and also creative and thought-provoking activities which start the real work on making that value come to life in our school. Staff take the lead in planning these, and they are linked to a curriculum subject, so we see how our values link and enable us to weave in the use of skills and work, which will make a lasting impression, e.g. art work, a poem, or making a model.
This also means that as we repeat a value e.g. friendship – we may focus on friendship links within PHSE, and then another year we could look at links with friendship within the science world whilst keeping the Christian core the same with a bible story, quotes and examples from the Christian world ensuring consistency and deep understanding of the core Christian values.
To further promote this work, we create an initial display from each child in our gallery. Through this, we rejoice in the value and celebrate what our school is all about. Then homework is sent home to extend this work and make links with families and allow children to explore the value in their own way. This work is celebrated in worship and rewards given for work that is inspirational.
Our Values Handbook encompasses all we do to explore, teach and learn about Christian Values. Click on the link below to view.
