We operate a ‘soft start’. When pupils come on to school premises, they can make their way to the door leading into the Royal Hall. The door will open at 8.40am and will close at 9am. Pupils arriving after 9am should enter through the main office and report to reception. Adults should be in their classrooms from 8.40am.

The morning session is 3 hours, lunch is 1 hour and the afternoon session is 2.5 hours. This is a total of 6.5 hours per day, 32.5 hours per week.

Breakfast Club is open from 8.00am, daily in the Royal Hall.

Walking Home

If your child is in Year 4, 5, or 6, and you wish them to walk home by themselves without being collected by a parent or carer, we must have written and signed consent first before we release them from school.

Worship Times

As a Church school, we have daily Acts of Worship. The groupings and times vary across the week. Locations may also change and may include halls, classrooms, prayer rooms, the outdoors, and local places of worship:

We have close links with St John's Upperby, St Herberts and the Cathedral in Carlisle. In fact, we are the only Church school in the Cathedral City. We have foundation governors from both parishes and the Vicar from St Johns regularly comes into school to lead collective worship and meet the children and staff. As a school, we celebrate festivals both in school and in church. For example, Reception Nativity in school read by our Vicar, Year 2 Christmas at St Herbert's for Mother's Union, Year 3 Harvest in the Cathedral, Year 5 Remembrance at St Cuthbert's and Year 6 Leavers in the Cathedral. We frequently take our children to visit our local churches. Reception has visited St Herbert's for baptism, groups of children have visited Bishop Goodwin's memorial in the Cathedral and the whole school and parents celebrate Carols Around the Tree at St John's every year.
