Hockey

We completed a Hockey unit in P.E. during the Spring 1 term with our coach Evie. To begin with the children developed their hockey skills (dribbling, passing, shooting, defending) and then moved on to small team matches where they were able to put their skills into practise. The children found it challenging at first to get used to bending down and moving low with the hockey stick around the hall, keeping two hands on the hockey stick and controlling the ball whilst moving. However, they remained focus and worked hard to develop these skills and worked well in small teams to begin to put these skills to the test when playing competitively against one another.

Netball:

Year 5 were very fortunate to participate in Hi Five Netball sessions with Anna Nicholson. The children learned the basic skills of the game and then participated in small team games, where they were able to put their new netball skills into action. All children were focused and engaged in the sessions and Anna (who teaches Secondary School P.E.), was very impressed with their listening skills, positive attitude and ability to play netball. Both the children and Anna were disappointed there were not more sessions available and have asked for the netball posts to be out more often at breaktimes so that they can continue to play.
