Autumn 1 Values Day 2023 - Respect for the environment
Focus: To express respect and reverence (awe and wonder) for the natural environment through the arts.
Bible verses: Psalm 24 Verses 1 and 2
The Earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.
God created the world and it belongs to him, therefore we should respect the Earth and everything in it, in the same way that we would respect anything that belongs to someone else. We are stewards of creation for a short time until we hand the baton on to the next generation.
On Values Day, each year group explored the importance of respect for the wonder and beauty of different environments and found out about environmental issues facing those environments.
KS1 wrote some lovely poetry.
Years 3 and 4 considered how religious festivals
can be made greener.
Years 5 and 6 created belief flowers, showing what
different religions teach about how we should care for the Earth.
