“Bonum Vincit Et Amor Dei” Good Wins Within the love of God

Our school Jubilee Celebration June 2022

We had an amazing school Jubilee Celebration on Tuesday 7th June. Pupils voted to come in special clothes and to bake cakes for 'The Great Bishop Bake Off'.

The day started with a special whole school worship where we learnt about the Queen, her service to the country over the past 70 years and how her faith has sustained her. We then carried out our own acts of service across the day. Examples included Year 1 collecting ladies clothes and toys to donate to Eden Valley Hospice who visited us to collect and thank the pupils, Year 2 who did a 'Royal Shoe Shine' for pupils, staff and visitors and Year 5 who offered staff a gift a a cup of tea and a rest whilst they did a task for them.

At lunch time we had a 'Street Party' picnic lunch across the Key Stage Two playground with special cakes and ice lollies and we had many special visitors including Governors past and present, members of St John's congregation, past staff, friends of the school, members of the council and the Deputy from the Lord Lieutenant's office. We listened to a fantastic Rag Time Band for one hour as we ate and played - it was so much much !!

Here are the winners of our Great Bishop Bake Off - every winner was selected by Year 6 House Captains and our Chair of Governors Mrs Heather Conroy. Winners were rewarded by their own Cook Book. We were so impressed by all our amazing chefs in terms of how many children made cakes but also by their quality. Below are the winning cakes.
