Our Reindeer Run
Raising money for Jigsaw- Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice
We had a super day today taking part in our reindeer run to raise money for the Jigsaw Hospice.
We began the day with a Reindeer warm up to ‘Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer’ then we headed out for our run.
We enjoyed hot chocolate and marshmallows once we got back to the classroom.
Thank you so much for all of your generous contributions.
Together we have made a BIG difference!
Remembrance Day
Today we have been thinking about Remembrance Day. We shared the story about a little rabbit who was experiencing the war and thought about how he might have felt.
It was a moving clip and the children could talk about the how the rabbit was feeling in the field that day

We made our poppies to remember all the soldiers who had died in the war. The children choose how they wanted to make their poppies today either with the dough, painting, building with bricks or drawing their poppies.
We took part in our School’s Remembrance service led by Year 5 and we took part in 2 minutes silence really respectfully.
Harvest
This week we have been thinking all about Harvest and where food comes from. We talked about how not everyone in our world has enough food and how it is important to be thankful for the food we have.
Today we shared the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and the hen asked us to help him to make some bread with the flour he had made from the wheat in the field.
We used our maths to count the correct amount of flour.
We listened carefully and followed the instructions.
We learnt new words such as ingredients, mill, wheat, yeast, rest, rise and knead.
We developed our physical skills by using one handed tools to stir and pour, building up our coordination by kneading, folding and shaping the ingredients and dough.
We thought about the differences between the ingredients and the changes we noticed as we made our bread then cooked it.
We are looking forward to sharing our bread tomorrow.
Bonfire Night
Today we had a visit from our school mini-police who came to tell us all about how to stay safe on Bonfire night.
They had some great safety tips for us and we listened to these really carefully.
Fireman Sam also has some useful tips to keep us safe on Bonfire night which we watched in our classroom.
You can watch his safety video at:

We made our colourful firework pictures.
We made up a firework dance and used streamers to perform it along to ‘Katy Perry’s Firework’ song.
